Neck Injuries Lawyer
Injuries to the neck, also known as “cervical spine injuries,” are often painful and disruptive injuries. Neck injuries can limit or prevent those affected from living a normal life.
Whiplash:
When a person is rear ended, or collides with another vehicle or structure, the pressure of the impact can cause whiplash. The term whiplash refers to a sudden jerking back and forth of the head. Treatment varies based on the severity of the whiplash, but can include painkillers, wearing a medical device such as a neck brace or collar, and ongoing therapy. Symptoms include difficulty sleeping, tingling down the arm, neck pain, and stiffness.
Herniated disc injuries:
A herniated disc occurs when a portion of a disc ruptures it’s surrounding outer layers. Aside from age, herniated discs are often caused by lifting heavy objects. Traumatic events, such as a fall or blow to the back can also cause a herniated disk. Symptoms include arm or leg pain, numbness or tingling, and weakness.
Neck fractures:
A neck fracture, or broken neck, is typically the result of a forceful trauma, like a car crash or a fall. Treatments vary based on the severity of the fracture; in some cases wearing a medical device will suffice, while other patients are forced to undergo invasive surgery. Symptoms include: severe pain, numbness, and trouble breathing.
Spinal Cord Injuries:
Spinal cord injuries are very serious and sometimes fatal. Spinal cord injuries may cause a number of devastating health complications, including complete or incomplete paralysis. Motor vehicle accidents and falls are two of the most common causes of spinal cord injuries.
