Serving up Books, Wine, & Bronx-pride
Serving up Books, Wine, & Bronx-pride as the only bookstore in the borough. The Lit. Bar will offer a carefully curated selection of general interest books, gift items, events, and programs with a particular focus on local and women’s interests. Our venue will encourage curious readers and welcome literary, art, and community gatherings–connecting the great pastimes of social drinking and introverted reading. What better way to loosen our tongues and talk about the books we love?
OUR MISSION
The Lit. Bar’s mission is to create a haven which inspires reading, healthy social interaction, and forward-thinking in the Bronx. We aim to broaden our community’s knowledge and capacities through our carefully curated book selection and stimulating events, and enthuse with fun, Bronx and reader-related products. We are committed to the quirky needs of our customers, working as a dedicated community partner, and helping to redefine stigmas associated with the borough.
Meet the Owner
Noëlle Santos is a millennial, Afro-Latina, hailing from the Bronx in New York City. OK, this third-person mumbo-jumbo is torture. We know it’s me, lol…
Hi! I’m Noëlle; representing the Bronx. I came of age in Soundview, and at age 16, I was a high school graduate living independently in Parkchester. In 2008, I became a resident of Crotona Park East, where I reside today. My studies at Lehman College earned me both a bachelor’s degree in business/accounting (2009) and a master’s degree in human resources management (2012). I also hold the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Society for Human Resources Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) designations. When I’m not working as the HR & Payroll Director for an IT firm, I’m exploring the Bronx & beyond, operating my book club, working in bookstores, and striving towards bringing the only bookshop to our borough.
The Lit. Bar will be just as multifaceted as me: a bookstore/wine bar/community center. I dream of a graffiti & chandelier theme, much like my life.
